A new kitchen, chocolate room, an expanded office, warehousing and shipping to make it all flawless, square wooden boxes all tied up with string — these are now Hilliard’s favorite things.
A year after being named on Oprah’s list of favorite things, Hilliard’s Chocolates has opened its expanded kitchen and warehouse space this summer, ahead of the holiday season. The progress will help ease the burdens the national recognition put on the business, and position the company for further growth.
"We’ve had almost more business than we can handle," Hilliard’s co-owner Judy Hilliard McCarthy said in an interview. "Now we can handle it and ease into it, then we’ll be a lot more aggressive, looking how to increase our business even more to maximize space in the building."
