A $10 million reward for information on the infamous Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist has been extended.
The reward initially expired at midnight on New Year's Day, but trustees voted to extend it. No new deadline was given.
The reward was raised to $10 million last May, which museum officials said generated good leads that continue to be chased.
"One good piece of information might just lead us to a recovery," Anthony Amore, the museum's director of security, said in a statement. "We are looking for quality, not quantity -- and facts, not theories."
Two thieves disguised as Boston police officers made their way into the museum in March 1990, stealing 13 works of art worth more than $500 million, including a Vermeer and two Rembrandts.
The art has never been recovered, and no arrests have been made.
"Typically stolen masterpieces are either recovered soon after a theft or a generation later," Amore said, adding that the museum is still "optimistic" about recovering the stolen artwork.
