Car Fleeing Cops Crashes Into House, K9 Crew Helps Nab Driver in Swamp

State police say Owen West, 19, of Dudley, struck a telephone police and house in West Brookfield before fleeing into a swampy area

A Massachusetts man fleeing from police crashed his car into a house in West Brookfield before being apprehended by a K9 team early Friday morning, according to state police.

A trooper first tried to pull over 19-year-old Owen West, of Dudley, at about 5 a.m. for a traffic violation, authorities said. While trying to flee, West allegedly struck a telephone pole and then a house on Wickaboag Valley Road.

West then fled on foot into the nearby woods. State police set up a perimeter and sent in a K9 crew to search for him.

A short time later, Trooper Kyle Kilmonis deployed his K9 partner Boomah, who quickly picked up West's scent in a swamp area nearby. With the assistance of other troopers, West apprehended without further incident.

West was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield. West Brookfield Police were to determine the charges he was facing. It's unclear if West has attorney.
