Kids Left in SUV by Day Care Worker, SUV Towed Away

Delaware State Police have charged a daycare provider after they say she left two young children alone in a vehicle that was repossessed and towed from a shopping center.

Troopers were called to the parking lot of the Pencader Plaza Shopping Center in Newark about 12:20 p.m. Friday for children unattended in an SUV. When troopers arrived, the SUV had been towed away.

Troopers went to the towing company, where an employee said he had repossessed the SUV. Authorities say the employee heard children's voices inside the car.

Troopers say two girls, ages 1 and 5, were in the third row of seats in the SUV. They were not hurt.

The driver, the children's day-care provider, 40-year-old Tonya Robinson of Bear, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
