Woman Taken Into Custody Following Standoff at New Hampshire Condo

Police said the woman pointed a gun at officers and made threats towards them

A woman is in custody after allegedly making threats with a handgun towards officers at her condominium in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the condo on Springbrook Circle to do a welfare check on the woman inside sometime during the early afternoon. When authorities arrived, the woman allegedly pointed the gun towards the officers through a window.

Authorities said the woman made several statements about killing the officers and anyone who tried to enter the home.

Following the threats, the officers retreated and formed a perimeter outside. The Seacoast Emergency Response Team Team was then mobilized and crisis negotiators were called in.

Police said the woman exited the home at one point pouring an unknown liquid into the courtyard, which she identified as a flammable chemical, before going back inside. Another time she went outside, police said she held the gun to her head and threatened to shoot herself.

Traffic was kept away from the area for hours while the standoff was taking place.

The woman, who has not been identified, eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. She was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.

Police said she is facing a number of charges that have yet to be determined.
