Leewood Road in Newton rarely sees this kind of super-hero sized action.
Eager kids and excited parents, walking into Mark Evans kitchen to grab all kinds of comic books for free.
"By all means, take 10, take 20, take 50. Take whatever is good for you. Take 1,000. Take all of them," says Mark Evans.
After more than 40 years of collecting, Evans says it’s time to let some of his prized possessions go. He has more than 15,000 comic books.
He recently posted this massive comic giveaway on a Newton parents Facebook page to honor Marvel comics legend Stan Lee, who passed away last week at the age of 95. Evans says he learned to read because of the complicated storylines Lee created in these books, and now wants to pay it forward.
"The idea is to get them into the hands of kids who are going to read them, enjoy them, and who are going to cherish them," says Evans.
Evans is married with two kids of his own. His wife, Rebecca Gavin, says she’s 100 percent supportive of her husband’s effort, after years of putting up with this hobby.

"It’s time to make some room," says Gavin.
The giveway started last Sunday. There are still hundreds of comic books left.
"I certainly had to re-emphasize this is for the kids," says Evans.
He says adults are still welcome to take some books, but only if they give a donation to benefit cancer research at the Jimmy Fund, because comic books aren’t just for kids.
And there’s still time to get those free comic books. Evans says he will be doing this again on Wednesday afternoon, when the kids get out for Thanksgiving break.
