President Donald Trump is facing backlash from politicians after a tweet about "progressive Democratic congresswomen" that some have regarded as nationalistic.
"Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done," Trump tweeted. "These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"
The tweet doesn't mention anyone by name, but seemed to address Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, who was born in Somalia, and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, whose family is Palestinian, as well as Reps. Ayanna Pressley, who is African American and born in Cincinnati, and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, who is of Latin-American descent but was born in New York.

U.S. Reps. from Massachusetts Bill Keating, Seth Moulton — who is also a Democratic presidential candidate — and Katherine Clark all responded, calling the statements "blatant racism" and "white nationalism."
"America has been made great by those who have come to our country and fought in our wars, cured diseases, and taught our children," Keating said. "The Congresswomen being attacked are all proud American citizens, duly elected to serve by their constituents. Here in America we don’t tell fellow citizens to 'go home.' We welcome them."
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who is also making a bid for the president's seat in 2020, tweeted a response Sunday afternoon.
"Let’s be clear about what this vile comment is: A racist and xenophobic attack on Democratic congresswomen," she tweeted. "This is their country, regardless of whether or not Trump realizes it. They should be treated with respect. As president, I’ll make sure of it."
