Low Wind Lingers, Cloudy Day for Many

We are on the road to improvement, leading to an excellent weekend weather for New England.

The Wednesday night storm pushed out Thursday night and continues to move away and weaken. However, there is still some influence with its wind from the northwest, which will gust past 25 mph at times on Friday. There will also be a few leftover showers in the high terrain of northern New England.

For most of New England, it’s a partly to mostly sunny day toward the seashore, with a mix of sun and clouds further inland. High temperature will be in the 50s to near 60 degrees. It’s much cooler in the higher terrain well north, where we had some snow showers overnight. Those are changing to plain rain showers and drying up in the afternoon.

High pressure from Southeast Canada moves in and takes control Friday night through most of the weekend. We’ll encounter a clearing overnight with a low temperature in the 30s north and 40s south.

Sunshine is in store for Saturday with light wind. It’s going to be a gorgeous day with high temperature near 60 degrees.

It will be frosty cold with a clear sky again Saturday night. Low temperature will be in the 20s and 30s north, to 30s and 40s south.

Sunday, we start off clear and cool with plenty of sunshine, but high clouds will thicken during the afternoon as a system coming out of the Gulf of Mexico moves to the middle Atlantic states.

This storm may have a name, Tropical Storm Nestor, and it will move off the mid-Atlantic coast during the day Sunday. At this time, the impact looks like it will stay away at least through the weekend, but things change a little bit early in the week.

On Monday, we should have a front over the Mississippi River Valley and potential Nestor off the mid-Atlantic states, there’s a chance that the two may merge close to New England Monday night and Tuesday. That may set up another midweek coastal storm for us.

It’s a bit of a change to the forecast from earlier. We were thinking that it would just be a front from the west. Ahead of that front, we may get to 70 degrees but now, it looks like more of an ocean influence may keep us cooler and more on the gray side with a chance of some more appreciable rain. There may even be wind again by later Tuesday into Wednesday.

For now, we can savor a beautiful weekend for the Head Of The Charles and all the other October events here in our First Alert 10-Day Forecast.
