2 Facing Judge in Connection With Fatal Lowell Shooting

Two Massachusetts men will face a judge Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a Lowell man on Saturday.

Christian Tripp-Kirwin, 21, and Joseph Luna, 21, both of Lowell, are scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on one count each of possession of a firearm without a license, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office.

Authorities said Lowell police responded to a shooting at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of O'Connell and Fay streets where they found 24-year-old Anthony Luna suffering from gunshot wounds. Luna was taken to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Another man who had been shot was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been treated and released.

Witnesses told police two men were seen fleeing the area. When authorities caught up with them on Gorham and Lundberg streest, a firearm was located.

The district attorney's office said the firearm the men are alleged to have been in possession of was not the weapon used in the death of Luna. However, all three men are known to each other.

The investigation in the Luna's death remains open and active, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
