Maine Gov. Paul LePage has announced he needs to have surgery after being struck by a car in November.

The incident happened the day before Thanksgiving.

The Portland Press Herald reported that after LePage gave his remarks at the 38th annual business event, he brushed off questions regarding the incident.

Later, a statement from the governor's office said that LePage suffered minor cuts and bruises when the car struck him and knocked him off his bike but that the crash aggravated LePage's shoulder.

The statement went on to say that LePage was already planning to have shoulder replacement surgery but that this incident sped up that timetable.

The time for LePage's surgery has not yet been disclosed.
