Man Accused of Firing Gun Out Car Window on I-84

State police arrested a 20-year- Middletown man accused of firing a gun out a car window on Interstate 84 West in East Hartford just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police said the vehicle was spotted near exit 48 and got off the highway at 47, but officers were able to stop the car on Farmington Avenue.

State police said they found a .45 caliber Springfield Armory XDS handgun that was stolen on July 18 and a bag containing what appeared to be marijuana.

Giovanni Omar Rodriguez, the passenger in the car, was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, stealing a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, risk of injury to a child, weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit and possession of a controlled substance.

He was unable to post $250,000 bond and he was held at Hartford Correctional Center.
