Man Arrested After Seriously Injuring 2 Children in Norwich Hit-And-Run

A man from Colchester is facing charges after a crash that seriously injured two children in Norwich on Saturday night.

Police say they responded to a two-car crash on Hamilton Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Investigators determined a black pick-up truck being driven by 32-year-old Carlos Davila swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a vehicle with a mom and her two children inside. A 3-year-old and a 6-year-old who were inside the vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Officials say Davila then fled from the accident scene on foot before being apprehended by Connecticut State Police.

Davila was arrested and is facing charges including assault with a motor vehicle, evading serious physical injury, reckless driving, operating under the influence and interfering with an officer.

Prior to the accident, officers believe Davila was involved in a road rage incident with another vehicle on Hamilton Avenue. The vehicle involved in the altercation with Davila is being described as a brown Acura TL from the early to middle 2000's. It was last seen traveling northbound on Hamilton Avenue.

Anyone with any information about the accident or the brown Acura TL is asked to call or email Officer Kevin McNeill at (860) 886-5561 or kmcneill@cityofnorwich.org.
