Man Charged in Hotel Parking Lot Murder

37-year-old Joseph Tavares, of Fall River, was found in the parking lot of the Regency Inn and Suites Hotel in Dartmouth

A suspect has been charged with murder in the death of a man shot inside his car in the parking lot of a Massachusetts hotel.

Thirty-seven-year-old Joseph Tavares of Fall River was found shot in a car parked behind the Regency Inn and Suites in Dartmouth Saturday night. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead.

Thursday, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced that 48-year-old Robert Rose Jr. of New Bedford had been charged with murder and misleading police.

The DA's office said Rose was arrested at the Dartmouth Police Station after officers conducted a followup interview with him.

The night manager of the Regency Hotel told NBC10 Boston off camera that a guest ran into the lobby after she heard loud thuds and breaking glass coming from the back of the building.

The hotel manager said he rushed outside and found Tavares unconscious in the driver's seat.
