A man was injured Sunday following an officer-involved shooting from police who responded to a high-speed driver and car crash in Easton, Massachusetts.
At approximately 2 p.m., police responded to a call from a homeowner on Bay Road who reported someone was knocking on her door and a vehicle was in her driveway.
The man who was knocking on the door fled the area at a high speed after officers arrived, according to the Easton Police Department.
Officers did not engage in a pursuit but monitored the fleeing car. Shortly after, the suspect vehicle crashed into another driver on Bay Road. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was not injured, according to police.
Police say the suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Serge Andre Jr. of Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood, brandished what officers believed was a gun, prompting them to open fire. Andre was struck at least once and was then hospitalized in serious condition. His injuries are considered non-life threatening.
"We saw the gentleman on the ground. He was just screaming and yelling and absolutely going crazy on the ground," neighbor Stephen Lippert said.

The two officers involved were taken to an area hospital for evaluation. They have been placed on paid leave pending the investigation.
Police Chief Gary Sullivan called the shooting an "unfortunate incident."
Andre faces charges of attempted breaking and entering, failure to stop for police, reckless operation and driving with a suspended license. Police say he could face more charges.
It was not immediately clear if Andre had an attorney.
Officers in Easton do not wear body cameras nor do they dash cams to review footage.
Easton police and the Bristol County District Attorney's Office are continuing their investigation on the officer-involved shooting.
