Man Suffers Serious Burns at Massachusetts Brewery

A man suffered serious burns in an incident at a Massachusetts brewery on Tuesday afternoon.

Fire officials said they responded to Trillium Brewing Company in Canton around 4:45 p.m. for a 55-year-old male suffering from serious burns.

The man was taken by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition, according to fire officials.

The victim was a 36-year-old contractor working on some of the brewery's equipment, according to investigators. Officials say there was no fire and that it is unclear how he received the burn.

Trillium tweeted a statement Wednesday thanking the public for support.

"We appreciate the concern everyone has shown & will pass along well wishes for his recovery," the company said.

The Canton brewery, located at 110 Shawmut Road, is Trillium's second facility, and includes retail space and a taproom. It serves as the company's primary production facility.

The company's original location is in the Fort Point section of Boston, and it also operates a beer garden on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. A new flagship brewery and restaurant is now under construction in Fort Point and is expected to open sometime in 2018.
