Man With Illegal Firearms, Hundreds of Rounds of Ammunition Arrested

James Kolozie, of East Bridgewater, was arrested and charged on Friday for illegally possessing firearms, ammunition and 19 large capacity magazines

A man in possession of multiple firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition has been arrested, East Bridgewater police said Sunday.

According to police, 31-year-old James Kolozie, of East Bridgewater, was arrested and charged on Friday for illegally possessing firearms, ammunition and 19 large capacity magazines. Kolozie's license to carry was suspended in 2017.

On Friday, the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives contacted East Bridgewater police after an investigation led them to believe Kolozie had recently purchased stolen firearm parts online.

Police say they then went to his apartment at 31 Central Street to speak with him.

When they arrived and spoke with him, they discovered probable cause that Kolozie had illegally been in possession of ammunition at his home, police said.

Kolozie was arrested and police obtained a search warrant for his apartment.

Officers then found and seized a dismantled AR-15 rifle, a 1911 Colt Commander handgun, 19 large capacity magazines, several hundred rounds of ammunition of various sizes, dozens of parts to various firearms and several components for manufacturing ammunition, police said.

He has been charged with unlicensed sale/possession of an assault weapon, illegal possession of large capacity magazine (19 counts), possession of ammunition without FID card or license to carry and improper storage of a firearm.

Kolozie may also face additional federal charges as a result of his arrest.

He is expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court on Monday. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
