Seven more Massachusetts State Police troopers have been flagged amid an ongoing investigation into alleged overtime pay discrepencies.
A state police spokesperson confirmed the seven unnamed troopers from Troop E were identified through an audit that found they had a low volume of overtime or partial shifts "that warrant further investigation."
The troopers will remain on active duty amid the investigation.
Meanwhile, five troopers from Troop E who had departmental duty status hearings Monday after being flagged for a higher volume of overtime shifts have initiated retirement proceedings, according to spokesperson Dave Procopio.
Procopio added that troopers who retire while under investigation are not eligible for an honorable discharge and could face criminal charges following the state attorney general's review of the investigation.
Troop E, which had monitored the Massachusetts Turnpike, was dismantled following a review that found possible overtime abuse of shifts in 2016 involving nearly 30 current and former troopers. Most of those troopers have been suspended without pay.
