The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is advising its customers of two men posing as water company employees trying to enter residential homes in Newington.
"It seems like something most people would believe," said Harrison Brown of Newington.
Manchester police reported a man posing as a Town of Manchester Water Department employee stole money from a couple's home also this week.
On Wednesday, two men claiming to be employees with the MDC entered a home on Hartford Avenue in Newington by saying they needed to check the water, the company said. It is unclear if anything was taken.
In July the similiar incidents happened twice. In one case, three men entered a Quincy Lane home and the elderly victim says $15,000 to $20,000 in jewelry and cash were stolen. Before that, an impostor entered a Timothy Street home but came away empty handed.
"We're all hard-working Americans. We work hard for our property and our belongings, try to keep our family safe. It's just disturbing," said Brown.
The MDC provided tips on spotting impostors and urge anyone suspicious to call the police.

• MDC field employees wear clothing and drive vehicles clearly marked with the MDC logo.
• The MDC encourages customers to ask for identification from anyone who comes to their door. All MDC employees have photo identification badges and will gladly display them upon request.
The policy is “No Identification - No Entry”.
• If someone comes to your door claiming to be from the water company and you do not have a previously scheduled appointment, do not allow access to your home until calling the MDC Command Center at 860-278-7850 ext 3600 to verify their identity.
• If you have any doubt about the individual’s identity or motives, or authenticity of their credentials, do not allow them entry into your home and call the police.
