Two men trapped in their flooded Gloucester, Massachusetts homes were rescued on Thursday, according to The Salem News.
Neil Marshall faced a high tide in his basement apartment at 151 Western Ave. and was rescued by first reponders.
An East Main Street resident was also saved while standing in his bathtub to avoid the icy storm surge taking over his apartment.
At Marshall's home, Harbormaster Captain T.J. Ciarametaro backed his pickup truck down the driveway to the doorway and firefighter James Hannon waded into the apartment to help Marshall out. Master Deputy Harbormaster Chad Johnson and detective Jonathan Trefry then hoisted the man into the back of the truck and transferred him to an ambulance where he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
“This has been a very real and very significant high tide,” Gloucester Police Chief John McCarthy said. "Parking lots and playing fields at Gloucester High School were also flooded."
