More Temperature Swings Into Next Week

Quiet weather continues for the next several days, as does our recent trend of temperature ups and downs.

Sunshine on Friday will be coupled with temperatures near 70.

Overnight many suburbs will drop into the 40s and 50s, with temperatures closer to 60 in Boston. Expect some patchy fog by morning.

These cool nights help to draw out fall foliage across New England. This weekend expect moderate color in much of northern Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and northern Maine, with low color dipping as far south as western and central Massachusetts.

Saturday brings lots of sunshine, but a few extra afternoon clouds as a cold front nears. That front will also trigger a few showers, mainly in northern New England, during the afternoon. A spot shower may reach southern New England closer to the dinner and nighttime hours. Highs will be warmer on Saturday, before the front arrives. Many spots will be around 80.

Behind the front on Sunday and Monday it’s back to sunshine, but back to more typical Autumn air. Highs will be in the 60s to near 70.

Another surge of warmth is possible for the middle of next week, with 70s and 80s likely, but we’ll also be a bit more unsettled at that point. Expect more clouds and some showers.

By late week and next weekend there are signs of much cooler air sticking around for several days. That would mean lows in the 30s and 40s, with highs closer to 60.
