A Massachusetts man is facing numerous charges after police say he went on a racist tirade at the Natick Mall.
John Garner, 23, who police said is homeless, is facing charges of assault and battery with the intent to intimidate, disorderly conduct and trespassing.
According to the MetroWest Daily News, Garner was arrested at about 7 p.m. Monday at the Champs Store where police told the paper officers had to use pepper spray to subdue him after he allegedly went on an "expletive-laced disturbance".
An African-American store employee told police after greeting Garner, Garner began using slurs.
The paper reported that when the employee called mall security, Garner allegedly followed him to the back of the store where another African-American employee was working. Garner continued yelling racial slurs, according to the paper.
The tirade allegedly continued when police arrived and Garner yelled at the officers on scene. That's when police subdued him with the pepper spray and took him into custody.
According to a police report, officers wrote that Garner had tattoos that could be construed as racist in nature which included the numbers 14 and 88.

It's unclear when Garner will appear in court to face charges or if he has an attorney.
