National Grid Worker Hit By Car in Spencer, Mass. Has Died

A National Grid worker who was hit by a car in Spencer, Massachusetts last month while working on a road has died, according to police.

Paul Germano, 50, of Dudley died Monday following the July 31 pedestrian crash on Route 9, police told NBC10 Boston. 

Germano was in the eastbound lane marking underground piping for an upcoming construction project at the time of the crash. He was thrown about 40 feet after being hit by a white sport utility car, police said.

Witnesses said a good Samaritan rushed to Germano's aid and performed CPR on the victim.

He and the driver of the car were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the sports utility car has been identified as a 60-year-old North Brookfield woman.
