Missouri Lawmakers Pass 3-Day Abortion Wait Period

Missouri's Legislature approved legislation Wednesday requiring a woman to wait three days after first doctor visit before having an abortion, The Associated Press reported. Under both current law and the new legislation, the waiting period doesn't apply in instances deemed by a doctor to be a medical emergency, though women do have to wait in cases of rape and incest. Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon has not said whether he will sign or veto it.
