Colder Temps Hitting Region, With Some Seeing Snow

Colder weather moves in today behind yesterday’s severe weather across the region.

A developing area of low pressure over the Gulf of Maine will bring continued rain showers across the region.

Today features cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid to upper 40s south and mid 30s across the North Country. Temperatures will be cold enough for snow to fall across the higher terrain. Right now, expecting 1 to 3 inches to fall across central Vermont and New Hampshire and 3 to 6 inches across Northern New Hampshire and central Maine.

Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Fenway Park in Game 2 of the World Series with first pitch is at 8:09 p.m. Expecting mostly clear skies and temperatures around 40 degrees with a 10-12 mph wind blowing from third base across the first base line, gusting 22-25 mph. Wind chill values will be around freezing so if you’re out at the game, bring warm clothes that will cover exposed skin.

Elsewhere, the overnight is looking dry and mostly clear with temperatures ranging from around freezing south to the upper 20s north.

High pressure from the Great Lakes begins to move into New England on Thursday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching the upper 40s to low 50s. Breezy winds will be around given drier and cooler air mass trickling into the region.

Friday will feature sunny skies and light winds as core of high pressure settles over the region. High temperatures rise into the mid to upper 40s south and low 40s across the North Country.

A strong low pressure is forecasted to track out of the Mid-Atlantic Saturday, bringing strong winds and heavy rains to New England for the weekend. There is still uncertainty with this system and its impacts but, right now it is looking like 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall across eastern New England with locally-higher amounts possible.

Strong winds may gust above 50 mph during the day Saturday with a higher-than-normal tide cycles around. This may lead to coastal flooding issues at our shores.

At the onset, mixed precipitation and snow will fall across the higher elevations of the Berkshires, Green Mountains and the White Mountains. Most of the precipitation falls Saturday into Saturday night before winding down on Sunday where scattered showers are expected.
