Newton Wellesley Hospital Nurses Knit Patriots Hats For Babies Born on Super Bowl Sunday

Two nurses in Massachusetts are welcoming babies into Patriots Nation one hat at a time.

On this Super Bowl Sunday, sports fans around the country are gearing up to watch the Patriots take on the Falcons, but two nurses at Newton Wellesley Hospital brought the game day spirit to work.

The nurses knit Patriots themed hats for some of the babies arriving on Sunday, including newborn Olivia Djelassi. Her parents sent NBC Boston a photo of her posing in her new cap.

“She came 12 days early to make the game,” says new father Ben Djelassi. “You can’t start them too young, so she will be rooting for the team.”

Nurses Ann Leone and Joanne McIssac knit about forty hats in total. Both women say they were, “taken back” by how many people liked them.
