Newtonville Commuter Rail Station Closed Due to Issue With Stairs

Shuttle bus service is available from West Newton Station to Newtonville

Newtonville Station on the MBTA's Framingham/Worcester Commuter Rail line has been temporarily shut down due to an issue with its stairs.

Keolis, the company that operates the Commuter Rail, said around 3 p.m. that the station is being closed as a safety precaution as engineers evaluate the condition of its stairs. They did not provide any further details.

Shuttle bus service is available from West Newton Station to Newtonville for passengers who need to use this station, Keolis said.

Once the engineering assessment is complete, the MBTA will provide an update and a timeline for when the station will reopen.
