Oakland School Security Guards Suspended After Brawl With Student

Officials have suspended two security officers accused of beating a student in a California high school.

Oakland Schools Superintendent Antwan Wilson made the case public Friday after reviewing videotape of the alleged beating. The incident occurred in January.

The video shows a security officer at Oakland's Fremont High School shoving a male student without apparent physical provocation. Two security officers then place the minor in a choke hold. Officials say the guards also punched the boy.

The San Jose Mercury News says the two guards have been suspended with pay.

Oakland police on Saturday said no one was available to comment on any possible criminal investigation.
