Man Charged in Deadly Athol Crash

A man was arrested Thursday after a deadly crash Sunday in Athol, Massachusetts.

Jay Pressley, a 28-year-old Orange resident, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, according to the Northwest District Attorney's Office. He faces other unspecified charges related to the crash that claimed the life of 26-year-old Eric Gage.

Police said a Nissan Altima ended up on its roof after a crash into a tree at the intersection of South Athol Road and Riverview Avenue. Gage died at the scene and two others were injured.

There were three people in the vehicle. One was ejected, and the other two were trapped inside and had to be freed using a hydraulic extraction tool.

Pressley is expected to be arraigned Friday in Orange District Court. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
