A woman whose arrest in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot against her husband was featured on the television show "Cops" testified under oath for the first time Tuesday, claiming the whole thing was an act for a reality show.
Dalia Dippolito testified at a Palm Beach County, Florida, court Tuesday during a pretrial hearing, saying she did it all to become famous.
The 33-year-old Dippolito is facing a May retrial on 2009 charges that she tried to hire a hit man to kill her husband, convicted conman Michael Dippolito. She has pleaded not guilty.
On the stand Tuesday, Dippolito claimed she was imitating an episode of "Burn Notice."
"It was a murder-for-hire episode, it was someone who had faked their murder-for-hire, an actor had faked it," she said.
Dippolito claims the plot was planned to get her publicity and hopefully more on-camera jobs.
The couple had been married for just six months but the hit man hire was allegedly the third attempt Dalia Dippolito had made on her husband. She had previously tried spiking his tea with antifreeze and tried to get two strangers to kill him, police previously said.

The case gained national notoriety because "Cops" happened to be filming with the Boynton Beach police.
Dippolito also claimed when she tried to back out, the police informant, who she was sleeping with, threatened her.
"He lifted his shirt and showed me his gun and he threatened me and threatened to hurt my family," she testified.
She said she was pressured to meet with the hitman, who was actually an undercover police officer.
