A western Maryland couple is facing drug charges after school officials said their two young children arrived at school smelling of marijuana.

Police searched the Westernport home of Donald Cosner and Amanda Perr receiving the report from school officials regarding the couple's 4- and 5-year-old children.

The search Thursday night yielded about 1 1/2 pounds of pot, a marijuana plant and numerous hypodermic needles with suspected heroin residue, authorities said.

Cosner, 41, and Perry, 28, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, and other charges, reported the Cumberland Times-News. They are now free on bail.

The 4- and 5-year-olds, along with a third child, age 7, were taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.

Neither Cosner nor Perry could be reached by the Associated Press for comment. They have no home telephone listing and no defense attorney is listed in court records.
