Patriots Will Face Los Angeles Chargers in Playoffs

It's the first time this season that the teams will play one another.

The New England Patriots will play the Los Angeles Chargers next week in the team's first playoff game of the 2018 season.

The Los Angeles Chargers beat the Ravens in Baltimore Sunday afternoon 23-17.

The Patriots, who secured their ninth consecutive first-round bye when they defeated the New York Jets 38-3, ended the regular season as the AFC's No. 2 seed with a record of 11-5. This was the first time the team has failed to win at least 12 games since 2009.

New England finished a perfect 8-0 at home for the seventh time in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era, joining the 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2013 teams. Only the first two went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Chargers, who ended the regular season with a record of 12-4, will face the Patriots in Foxborough on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 1:05 p.m. It's the first time this season that the teams will play one another.

The Patriots are on the hunt to add to their 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015 and 2017 Super Bowl titles.
