Pedestrian Killed in Everett Crash Identified

A pedestrian has died after he was seriously injured Friday night in a crash in Everett, Massachusetts.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Revere Beach Parkway and Vine Street, state police said. The operator of the car traveled through the intersection with a green light when Francis Stamegna, 62 of Melrose, was struck while crossing Revere Beach Parkway.

The victim's injuries were described as serious. The Melrose man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The operator of the car was also transported to a hospital for precaution.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the westbound lanes of Route 16 were closed after a crash involving a pedestrian.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene to aid the victim and cooperated with investigators.

State troopers assigned to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office are assisting with the investigation.
