Man Dies After Being Pulled From Sylvan Lake in Watertown

A 23-year-old swimmer drowned at Sylvan Lake in Watertown Thursday.

Crews were called to the area around 3:35 p.m. for a missing swimmer. Fire officials said rescuers pulled the victim from the water after approximately 20 minutes of searching.

Authorities said the man may have been under the water for approximately an hour.

The man, identified as Isaiah Anderson, was taken to Waterbury Hospital for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to police, the incident happened in a posted no swimming area. Police said the park has a designated swimming area, but it was not yet open for the season.
