Man Struck, Killed by Red Line Train

The MBTA reports that a passenger was struck and killed by a Red Line train Sunday morning.

According to the MBTA Transit Police, the incident occurred about 7 a.m. Police said a 66-year-old man was struck while trespassing near the northbound tunnel in the area of Porter Square.

Police said the man died as a result of his injuries. 

A temporary bus shuttle service was setup between Harvard and Alewife. service has since resumed to normal operations after police cleared the scene.

The investigation is being led by Transit Police detectives and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Police said no foul play was suspected and no further information, including the name of the man killed, is being released at this time.
