Man Charged With Threatening in Plainfield After Machete Incident

A man who is accused of carrying a machete and threating Plainfield residents has been arrested and police said schools and public buildings in the area were instructed to implement safety procedures while authorities searched for the suspect. 

Police said they responded to Community Avenue around 6:46 a.m. to investigate reports of a domestic altercation involving 37-year-old Keith Coolidge, who had a machete. 

Police were told that Coolidge was banging on the windows of the home with the machete, went inside and threatened the occupants, then left, wearing camouflage and a ski mask. 

Mutual aid was called in and all schools and public buildings in the surrounding area were notified to initiate safety procedures as officers searched for Coolidge, police said. 

Alerts went out and a person saw Coolidge in the area of Oakwood Boulevard and notified authorities. Police said officers found him in the woods and took him into custody. 

Coolidge was charged with threatening in the second degree and disorderly conduct. He was held on a $25,000 bond.
