Police: 80-Year-Old Man Struck By Vehicle in Boston

The incident happened at the corner of Ruggles and Tremont streets, near Northeastern University

An 80-year-old man was hit by a vehicle Saturday as he was crossing a busy street in Roxbury, Boston police say.

Authorities say the elderly man sustained a head injury and was brought to the hospital with "what appears to be" life-threatening injuries. He was later reported to be in stable condition, however, and is expected to be OK.

The incident happened at the corner of Ruggles and Tremont streets, near Northeastern University.

The intersection remained closed for a large part of the evening as officers investigated, including testing the brakes of the black sedan to determine the speed the vehicle was traveling.

It's unclear if any charges will be filed. The incident remains under investigation.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story said the person hit was a woman. The person hit was a man.
