Police Arrest 3 People Accused of Threatening to Kill Hartford Police Officers

Hartford police have arrested three people since Sunday who are accused of threatening to kill police officers.

A man who was in Hartford police custody at Hartford Hospital on Wednesday is accused of threatening to kill a police officer and his family and put bombs in police cars. Another man is accused of threatening to kill police officers, and a man who was detained at the Hartford Police Station on Sunday is accused of threatening to kill an officer “just like the officers in Dallas.”

The most recent incident was on Wednesday, when a prisoner in police custody at Hartford Hospital threatened the police officer on the detail, police said.

Brandon Mcarthur, 31, of Hartford, told the officer he was going to shoot him in the face when he was released, according to police. He also threatened to kill the officer’s children and blow up his house and car, police said.

“I swear on my grandmother’s grave, that as soon as I get out of here, I’m going to shoot you in the face,” he said, according to the police report.

He’s also accused of saying, “I have a bullet with your name on it,” and threatening to place bombs in the cruisers of the Hartford police officers who were helping the officer on the detail.

Mcarthur was charged with three counts of second-degree threatening.

One of the incidents happened on Tuesday after officers responded to Farmington and Sisson avenues just before 10 p.m., police said. They were there to investigate reports of a man walking in and out of traffic, throwing items at cars and yelling that he was going to kill cops.

Officers detained Anthony Cruzao, 20, of Hartford, and charged him with second-degree breach of peace.

The first incident happened on Sunday when officers were doing well-being checks on suspects detained at the police department. Police said Alexander McCann became agitated during a conversation with a police officer.

He wanted to know what he was being charged with. When the officer told him, McCann said he was going to kill the officer “just like the officers in Dallas,” according to a police report.

Police said McCann had been charged with assaulting police officers, so they considered the alleged threat credible and arrested him.
