A resident and two firefighters were hospitalized Tuesday night after a teenager attempted to make a "colorful smoke bomb" on a stove in Concord, Massachusetts.
Police and firefighters responded to a home on Old Bedford Road around 7:45 p.m. When firefighters saw heavy smoke and an unusual substance being cooked on the stove, the Massachusetts Fire Marshal's Office and a hazardous materials unit were called in. State police said its bomb squad was requested at the scene, as well.
According to Concord Police, a teenager was trying to create a "colorful smoke bomb" after seeing a video on the Internet.
While authorities do not know what type of chemicals were used, responders ventilated the house.
A passerby driving near the home heard smoke detectors and saw smoke coming from the house then called 911.
Police said the teenager and two firefighters were taken to nearby hospitals out of an abundance of caution.
There is no danger to the public, police said.
