Police Identify Woman's Body Found Along Rhode Island Interstate

Janelle Morris was pronounced dead on I-295 in Johnston

Rhode Island State Police have identified a woman whose body was found Friday morning along Interstate 295 in Johnston.

According to WJAR-TV, troopers responded to a report of a woman on the roadway at 4:25 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators initially thought the woman had been struck by a car, but later said they did not know how she died.

The woman has been identified as 26-year-old Janelle J. Morris of North Providence.

The state medical examiners office will be determining her cause of death.
