Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a home invasion and assault overnight in Litchfield, New Hampshire.

Litchfield police announced Wednesday afternoon that they had arrested Ian Morris, 25, of Jaffrey in connection with an ongoing home invasion investigation. They said he allegedly entered a residence on Evergreen Circle during the night and assaulted a resident.

He has been charged with attempt to commit murder, two counts of first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault, one count of kidnapping and one count of burglary. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Nashua.

No further information about the home invasion was released by police.

Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera said the homeowners are wonderful people who have lived there for more than two decades.

Terry Roche says while a crime like this is unusual on his street, he's says sadly, he's not surprised.

"Unfortunately, the world we're living in right now is a scary place, and it doesn't matter where you are," Roche said.

"There is no danger to the public, as it appears to be an isolated incident," Litchfield police said in a statement.
