Police: NH High School Teacher Solicited Naked Photos From Student

A New Hampshire high school teacher was arrested Monday for allegedly trading sexually inappropriate images with one of his students.

Police say Robert Todd Wiley, 63, a Milford resident and a teacher at Merrimack High School, had been meeting with the student, who is under 18.

Wiley is accused of soliciting naked photos of the student. He also allegedly shared photos and videos of himself masturbating.

"He was masturbating in the videos and sending them to the juvenile, through the internet," said Merrimack Police Lt. Denise Roy.

Police said they were tipped off by the girl's family who found the photos and videos on her phone.

Parents necn spoke to Monday night were shocked of the allegations.

"I think it's pretty disgusting," said one parent.

Wiley has been teaching English and philosophy at the school for 37 years.

"He always walks around saying hi to people," said student Justin Cardenas. "He was always really cool, down to earth, I didn't really see him doing this stuff."

School officials said they're addressing the matter with students and counselors will be on hand, while police are also asking parents to talk to their kids about it.

"There are supportive adults for counseling, guidance counselors, in home room students have teachers that they're affiliated with," said Marge Chiafrey, Superintendent of Schools.

Police say they only know of the one victim, but are urging any others to come forward and urging parents to talk to their kids.

Wiley was released on $20,000 cash bail. He is due to be arraigned on Dec. 1. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

School officials said they removed him from duty around Columbus Day and he has submitted a retirement letter.
