Police: Train Derailment May Have Been Caused by Heat

Police suspect hot weather is to blame for the derailment of a train Tuesday in Royalston, Massachusetts.

About nine cars derailed around 2:45 p.m., according to Royalston Police. No one was hurt in the incident.

The scene was cleared by around 6 p.m.

While the cause remains unknown, police believe the extreme heat made the metal on the tracks expand.
