A toddler who went missing from her home in Stow, Massachusetts, Tuesday was located safely miles away.

Public safety officials said the search began at 11:15 a.m. The child, whose name is Maggie, had been missing since about 10:30 a.m. and had last been seen on Kerrington Way.

"Her mom was putting two infants into her SUV, went inside to grab something real quick and didn't realize the child - the two-and-a-half-year-old - had walked away," Stow Police Chief Ralph Marino said.

State and local police began searching the area and a state police helicopter was also launched.

At about 12:15 p.m., police said Maggie was located walking in some rough terrain about 2-miles from her house.

Maggie was taken back home unharmed.

"Just a little scrape on her hand. A smile on her face. And she's happy to be home," Marino said.

According to officials, it was the second time in a week that Maggie had disappeared.

Last Thursday, authorities were called to the address where Maggie went missing and later found the child a quarter-mile away.

"We had been here once before from last week. We found her relatively quick from the last time and we were hoping for the same turnout," Marino said.
