Police Seek Attempted Armed Robber at Manchester Supermarket

Clerk said robber was carrying a mini sledgehammer.

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning at a Manchester, New Hampshire supermarket.

The 24-year-old clerk working at the Stop and Go on Massabesic Street told police the robber was carrying a mini sledgehammer. The robber demanded the clerk give him cash from the register, but the clerk refused.

The robber fled the store in an unknown direction on foot, without getting any money. The clerk was not harmed during the attempted robbery.

The robber is described as between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and approximately 140 to 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with black designs on the shoulders, blue Levi's jeans and black sneakers.
