Search for Gunman in Harvard Square Shooting Ongoing

Police are continuing their search for a gunman who shot an 18-year-old at a popular Cambridge intersection frequented by Harvard students and tourists.

The shooting happened at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Eliot and John F. Kennedy Streets in Harvard Square, according to police.

An area hospital reported an 18-year-old Cambridge resident was treated for non-life threatening injuries sustained in a shooting. The victim, is not a student, has since been released from the hospital.

According to police, two groups were reportedly involved in several altercations in the Harvard Square area before the shooting.

No one has been charged in the shooting. Officials did not release the victim's name and a description of the gunman has not been made available.

Although there were no arrests in connection to the shooting, one man was arrested on drug distribution charges in the area. Thomas Davis, 27, of Roxbury, was arrested Sunday as officials uncovered his alleged crime during their investigation in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
