Possible Heat Wave to End August in New England

With the clear sky and light wind we had radiational cooling Thursday night, temperatures cooled to 40s and 50s in many locations.

With full sunshine for our Friday, the temperature will rise 30 to 40 degrees in some spots topping out 80 to 85 degrees by afternoon. The wind remains light and variable, which means a few of the beaches may cool a bit with a local afternoon sea breeze.

High pressure moves into the Gulf of Maine for the weekend. That allows a more maritime wind flow. That means humidity comes up, and there may be a few clouds mixing in.

Temperatures are going to be in the 80s, to near 90 degrees away from the shore. It'll be a bit cooler at the beaches, but it does look like a great weekend for all, from mountaintop to the seashore.

By Sunday afternoon, a warm front to our west and the old front to our south may generate enough clouds that we get a shower before the day is over.

A warm front moves to our north Sunday night and Monday, pushing the temperature to 90 degrees by Monday afternoon and a little cooler at the coast. Then, with high pressure off to the south, we should be in the 90s for Tuesday and Wednesday. A possible heat wave to end August.

Spot showers or storms are possible each afternoon. However, heavier rain, if we get it all, will have to wait until about Wednesday.

Somewhat cooler air comes in, but it still looks like summertime warmth as we head into Labor Day Weekend.
