Powerful Gusts Starting Our Week; Power Outages, Downed Trees Anticipated

Powerful winds will blow across New England all day, gradually ramping up until peaking during the afternoon and evening. That’s when many places will see gusts 40 to 60 mph.

This will be enough to bring down trees and power lines, resulting in scattered power outages. Ferries and flights will also be delayed by the winds.

Skies will generally be partly cloudy in southern New England and near the Maine coast. In the mountains of northern and western New England, by contrast, the westerly winds will produce upslope snows that continue through Monday. This will be leading to several inches of accumulation.

The wind will gradually bring in colder air, as well. Highs on Monday will be in the 30s to near 40, but we’ll only reach the teens and 20s. However, we'll have sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Our next disturbance to watch may bring a period of light snow late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

After that, the next storm that is more organized arrives next weekend. Temperatures look to be moderate by then, meaning that storm will likely be more wet than white for many.
