A Connecticut prep school has retained a lawyer to conduct an independent review following in the wake of a Massachusetts student’s suicide earlier this month.
Connor Tronerud, of Sutton, died Dec. 4. He was a sophomore at Marianapolis Preparatory School, an independent Catholic school in Thompson, Connecticut.
According to Connor's obituary, he took his own life "after struggling with bullying from peers."
A spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said the office was investigating.
The Telegram & Gazette reported that Joseph C. Hanrahan, Marianapolis' head of school, wrote a letter to parents on Dec. 20 regarding Tronerud's death.
"Connor’s tragic death has raised issues and we want to do everything possible to continue to ensure the health and well-being of all members of our community," read part of the letter.
Hanrahan also stated that the Marianapolis board of directors had retained a Hartford attorney to "conduct a thorough, independent review" of the school’s protocols and policies.

Tronerud's family has not yet commented on his death but have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for bullying prevention and self-harm awareness education.
