Thousands of people marked President Donald Trump’s 100th day in office on Saturday with a protest on Boston Common.
The noon rally was one of more than 300 across the country.
Saturday's event focused on what protesters say are Trump's efforts to roll back protections for the climate; his assaults on air, water and land; and his attacks on working families, indigenous peoples, people of color, immigrants, the LGBT community, women, young people and low-income communities.
Organizers of the rally included unions, local community groups, environmental groups, and religious and faith leaders.
“Our Constitution begins with the words ‘We the People,’ and yet our nation has become so divided. In Massachusetts we want to lead the nation not by ignoring our differences but by embracing the strength of our diversity,” said Rev. Mariama White-Hammond, Minister for Ecological Justice at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Boston and a leader with the Massachusetts Interfaith Coalition for Climate Action.
Among those at the rally were Massaschusetts Sen. Ed Markey who was marching for clean energy.
