Sunshine will return over the course of the day Friday as a cold front slides offshore, bringing overnight rain with it. Northwest winds will at times make it feel a bit brisk today, but with temperatures in the 30s and 40s in Northern New England, and 40s to near 50 in Southern New England, we’ll still be close to average for the start of December.
The weekend is quiet, with high pressure dominating our forecast. The only minor blemish will be a few extra clouds Saturday afternoon and parts of early Sunday. Otherwise, expect highs in the 30s and 40s for most.
Overall, great weather for high school football at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, where Super Bowl play takes place Friday night and Saturday.
U.S. & World
Early next week another surge of warmth arrives, with highs popping well into the 50s for many Tuesday into Wednesday. Rain showers, with some mixing in far Northern New England, will accompany the warmth late Tuesday into Wednesday, however, as a cold front moves in.
That front will dramatically change our pattern late next week. Cold Canadian air will send temperatures into the 30s and 40s for most, with a few 20s in the coldest spots.
The pattern will also become a bit more favorable for snow late week, but it’s too early to talk specifics at this point.
